What to Expect

What to Expect

Your First Visit

It can be unnerving going somewhere new and not knowing what to expect. We want to give you a preview of a typical first appointment with our office. Your first appointment will be a little longer than most future appointments because we want to get you off to a good start. We’ll be very thorough and check every aspect of your oral health. Two hours will be reserved for your exam and cleaning; whether you use that whole time is up to you. When you first walk in the door, you’ll be greeted by our friendly team at the front desk. From there your hygienist will interview you, review your health history, assess your oral health, take any necessary x-rays, evaluate your gum tissue, and clean your teeth. During your appointment you’ll be seen by Dr. Potts or Dr. Mahmood, who will examine your dental health and answer any questions you have.

Sometimes new patients come to us with a specific dental problem that needs to be addressed. If that is the case, we will focus on the necessary dental treatment and go from there.

What If You Suffer From Dental Anxiety?

Though many dentists do not enjoy treating fearful patients, that is not the case with Dr. Potts and Dr. Mahmood. In fact, one of the things that gives the doctors the most satisfaction in their work is helping fearful patients be more at ease about their dental care.
